in its final stages of being completed.
ODP Grant money is available now and has to be spent in 90 days. It opened April 1 and closes June 30. All Departments need to get their list to Don
so he can get approval for the items.
Some items have already been approved.
If the item has not been approved Don will have to send information for
the item to Kansas Highway Patrol to see if they will approve of the item.
We are looking at ways
of working with Industries and Emergency Services and other county entities to
put together an exercise for the county that meets the State requirements.
Don was told over 1000
people had applied for the 7 KDEM area planner positions and the administrator
position that are available.
The Governor signed the
E911 bill. The Bill states that counties with a population of over 125,000
people will be charged 25-cents per cell phone and counties with under 125,000
will be charged 50-cent tax per cell phone.
These funds will be put into an E911 fund to help all counties update to
an E911 system.
The county is getting a
GIS system. We hope to be able to start
inputting data by the middle of June.
Each member talked about
what had been going on in his or her department or company.
Two booths at the Grant
County Fair have been reserved for the county Emergency Services. Sherry from the Health Department was also
interested in participating.
Don has been working
with the schools to revise and practice their tornado plans and
Chuck Anderson expressed
an interest in having another Risk and Threat Assessment class or having the
KDHE has a Risk
Communication Class set up for April 27 in Dodge City and a class on
Personal Protective Equipment on April 26 and 27th in Garden City.
Debra McDaniel from
